Update on Samantha Falbo (Smiles for Samantha )

A few people have been asking about Samantha and how is she doing. I came across a website created for her and this is the update that was posted September 16 2011:

Settled In

Well, Samantha has been home for 4 days now and has settled in. She certainly has no problem conveying what she needs, i.e. I need to go to the bathroom, do you have my chapstick, can you get me something to drink, can I have a napkin, etc... I took Samantha to the spa Wednesday where she received a treatment and a pedicure. Seven Bridges, thank you! Very accommodating and professional. I made her another appointment for next weekend to take her to get a facial and her eyebrows done. She really feels good after she has her spa treatment.
Thursday morning we headed up to MJ for outpatient therapy evaulations. Samantha's insurance is covering 20 outpatient visits. Once those visits are completed, if MJ thinks more visits are necessary, we will apply for grants and aid to pay for them so she can continue going. They base it on whether there is a need for more sessions and how she is progressing. She has therapy every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:15 am to 2:30 pm. Each session is 45 minutes and she eats lunch there. We will see how things look after 6 weeks.
Right now, she is enjoying relaxing and catching up on tv. I will continue updates every couple of days as therapy starts so everybody knows how she is progressing.

Background Story

On July 12, 2011, Samantha was shot in the head in a domestic incident. Samantha is currently at Rush Copley fighting everyday. Although Samantha is critical, she is stable.
Samantha is a very strong woman and she will not give up fighting everyday but her fight will be a long and painful journey. It may be months before we know what Samantha's long term needs are. 


 More information about Samantha: Samantha is 25 years old and a graduate of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Samantha is currently employed for a physician in Naperville. She enjoys time with her boyfriend and friends, movies, especially any movie starring John Travolta, and she is a die hard Cubs fan!
